Product update: Introducing Reporter appeals

Reporter appeals enables neighbors who report content to appeal the decision if content was not removed

Last December we launched report status - which let neighbors who reported content (aka reporters) know the outcome of whether or not content they reported was removed. In an effort to expand our efforts to create a more transparent, welcoming and respectful atmosphere, we’re beginning to test a new feature that will:
- Let the reporter:
- Appeal the decision
- Provide a reason for the appeal
- Know what happens next
- Know additional actions they can take (e.g. hide the post, mute the author, report the author)
- Then, a different group of community moderators will vote or Nextdoor Support members will review the appeal and make a decision
- Finally, we’ll let the reporter know the decision of the appeal and remind them of additional actions they can take

What is not changing?
- Reporters can take additional action including hiding the content, muting the author and reporting the author
- Community moderators will continue to vote on whether content violates community guidelines

Why did Nextdoor introduce this feature?
This feature aims to address feedback from Leads, Review team members and neighbors who want the ability to appeal a decision on reported content and expand our efforts to create a more transparent, welcoming and respectful atmosphere.
