Product update: Introducing direct message reports
# Product Updates
Over the next few weeks, we are rolling out a new feature to enable neighbors to report direct messages and keep themselves safe on Nextdoor
Team Nextdoor
What does this feature do?
DM reports allows neighbors to report unwanted direct messages (DMs) and/or block the sender.
This opens an account review, during which Nextdoor Support will review the DM and other recent activity to determine whether the sender has broken guidelines and take appropriate action(s)
The reporter’s name will not be disclosed to the sender
When a decision has been reached, you’ll receive a notification of the status of your report.
What is changing?
DMs can be reported
The sender of the DM(s) can be blocked directly from message and/or conversation
What is not changing?
All content including posts, comments, DMs, etc must follow Nextdoor community guidelines
Posts, comments and neighbor accounts are still reportable
Community moderators and Leads will continue to review posts and comments then vote whether it violate guidelines
Neighbor account reviews will continue to be conducted by Nextdoor Support
Why has Nextdoor made this update?
This new feature was developed to empower neighbors to create a safe and welcoming environment on Nextdoor.
